I am Stephen L. Richards, a University of Chicago and Brooklyn Law School graduate who has been practicing in criminal defense and related areas of the law for over 25 years. As a longstanding Illinois attorney who has handled many complex, highly publicized cases in recent years, I am well prepared to assess your case and legal options, beginning with a free consultation.

I was honored to receive the National Legal Aid and Defender Association's Kutak-Dodds Award, also called the Defender Prize, in 2003. I have served as a longtime board member and president of the Illinois Public Defender Association.
