I am attorney Stephen L. Richards, a graduate of The University of Chicago and Brooklyn Law School who has been practicing in criminal defense and related areas of the law for more than 25 years. My background includes more than 75 felony jury trials, hundreds of bench trials and effective negotiations in thousands of other cases.

I was honored to receive the National Legal Aid & Defender Association’s Kutak-Dodds Award, also called the Defender Prize, in 2003. I have served as a longtime board member and president of the Illinois Public Defender Association.
