Illinois man charged with murder in wife’s death

On Behalf of | Aug 5, 2013 | Violent Crimes |

When a murder occurs, investigators want to quickly find the culprit for several reasons. One, they want to make sure that a dangerous person is not on the streets putting other people’s lives in jeopardy. For another reason, taking a long time to bring murder charges does not reflect well on them. While most investigators do an excellent job ensuring they have arrested the correct person, mistakes do happen. An Illinois man, charged with murder in connection with his wife’s death, is likely hoping to prove that accusations against him are actually a mistake.

Details involving the murder are still scarce. According to information released by authorities, responded to a disturbance in the early hours of a July morning. A woman who lived at that address is scheduled to undergo an autopsy at the medical examiner’s office.

The woman’s husband, who lives at the same address, has been charged with murder as a result and is scheduled to appear in court soon. Some sources have stated that the person accused of attacking the woman, presumably the accused man, was also injured in the incident and is currently hospitalized. Authorities have been hesitant to confirm or deny such statements.

There are many mysterious areas of the case that prosecutors must address in order to prove to an Illinois court that the man is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. For example, if the woman truly did die at the hands of the man charged with murder, it seems possible that his injuries indicate self-defense. Also, it seems likely that a third party could be responsible for attacking the two people at home, causing both their injuries. While no one wants a guilty man to walk the streets, some people feel it would be worse to send an innocent man to jail.
