2 teens charged with murder after Chicago shooting

On Behalf of | Aug 20, 2014 | Violent Crimes |

The average teenager in America has a certain life. They generally go to school, do their homework and hang out with friends. Many work after school jobs or participate in extracurricular activities. However, Chicago police claim the alleged actions of two teenagers are anything but average. The two teens have now been charged with murder.

The incident that led to their arrest happened in July 2014. Police claim that a 15-year-old was encouraged by an adult gang member and a 17-year-old to shoot a rival 19-year-old. While police claim a shot was fired, they say it did not hit the intended target.

Instead, police believe that a man who had recently arrived in town was fatally struck as he waited for a bus. The two teenagers have now been charged, as adults, with attempted murder and first degree murder. A third male, believed to have supplied the weapon and the getaway car, was previously charged with murder. It is unclear if the adult who allegedly urged the teen to shoot will also face charges.

It is unclear at this time what led police to the three people now charged with murder. However, these two young boys will likely face a difficult time ahead of them as they move through the criminal justice system. Most people in Chicago who have found themselves in a similar situation have sought the guidance and help of those who are familiar with such cases in order to ensure they are properly treated and receive the best possible outcome.
